2024 Rates & Exclusive Offers

Our rates are priced per guest per night and include the complete Tswalu experience (see below), from full-board luxury accommodation to complimentary safari activities. In addition, a private 4×4 safari vehicle with a dedicated guide and tracker is guaranteed with every booking. Tswalu offers a direct scheduled charter air service from Johannesburg or Cape Town to the reserve’s tarred private airstrip.

LOAPI

Offering a private wilderness experience, Loapi Tented Camp has no shared spaces or amenities, just 6 luxurious villa-style homes under canvas. There are 4 x 1 bedroom and 2 x 2 bedroom homes, each an exclusive-use, independently run micro camp. Note that there is a minimum 2-night stay in each home.

THE MOTSE

Tswalu’s original camp, The Motse has 9 private, luxury guest suites or legae (Setswana for ‘home’). There are 3 family legae designed especially for families with a main bedroom and en suite bathroom, a second bedroom with en suite bathroom, and a spacious, separate living room. Note that there is a minimum 2-night stay for all suites.

TARKUNI

A private, thatched homestead, Tarkuni has 5 luxurious en-suite bedrooms, all under one roof, for the exclusive use of a family or party of friends. Each bedroom has a private terrace and leads off a spacious open-plan lounge and dining room. The front of the homestead has a long, deep, covered verandah overlooking a waterhole. There is also a separate library/study, spa therapy suite, private boma, plunge pool, fire pit and a private tsala. Note that there is a minimum 2-night stay.

THE KRAAL

Nett rates applicable for guides, pilots, and tutors.

  • ZAR 3 210          Rate per person per night, including all meals served at The Kraal
  • ZAR 5 890         Rate per person per night, including meals and activities shared with guests at any camp
  • ZAR 3 750          Dinner per guide joining guests at Klein JAN restaurant

STAR BED WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE

Guests can book a night at the Malori a remote, under-canvas sleepout camp on a raised deck overlooking the open plains. For exclusive use only, the tent has comfortable single beds (extra stretcher beds for children), an outdoor seating and dining area deck, and an open-air shower, toilet and handbasin.

  • ZAR 10 800          Rate per night for a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children
  • Children 0-17 years accommodated on camping stretchers (it is advisable to pre-book at the time of reserving accommodation)

 

Naledi, which means ‘star’ in the local Tswana language, is Tswalu’s back-to-nature star bed experience in the Korannaberg mountains. Complimentary for a maximum of 2 adults (guests may book when at Tswalu – no pre-booking required)

PHOTOGRAPHIC SAFARIS

A specialist photographic guide is available at an additional cost of ZAR 9 500 per day and must be booked in advance.

The daily rate includes:

  • • Undivided attention of the photographic guide while on safari, assisted by a tracker
  • • 2 hours of informal classroom-style tuition to cover wildlife photography skills
  • • Use of our modified photographic safari vehicle
  • • Support and assistance with post-editing in the Photographic Studio at the Motse, using Lightroom software
  • • 1 complimentary edited wildlife print per booking

Note that booking a private photographic safari is subject to availability and must be confirmed when making an accommodation reservation.

FLIGHTS

A direct scheduled charter air service from Johannesburg or Cape Town is offered to Tswalu Kalahari Reserve where there is a tarred private airstrip.

Please note that luggage needs to be soft-sided bags, and is restricted to a maximum of 44 pounds (20 kg) on Tswalu scheduled flights, inclusive of hand luggage. Extra seats may be purchased, at standard rates, should guests wish to travel with excess luggage – a maximum of 110 pounds (50 kg) extra per seat in soft-sided bags. | Complimentary storage facilities are available for excess luggage in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. | Included in the above prices are complimentary transfers between the private hangars and the main terminal building, rental car companies, or airport hotels. | Complimentary road transfers must be booked with reservations in advance. | Children under 2 years fly for free and will be seated on an adult’s lap. | Cancelled or delayed flights: In the event of any flight delays or cancellations (our third-party operators are governed by aviation regulatory authorities), Tswalu is in no way responsible for any loss whatsoever, sustained by you or your party.
